Leadership
After being named Employee of the Month for October, more was expected from me during the month of November. I demonstrated intrapreneurship throughout the month by constantly making changes and edits to the presentation I was working on with a coworker for an upcoming trade show. Different design and phrasing of the text on each slide each had their own level of risk as to whether it would be appealing. Now that I can be trusted by coworkers due to my past performance, I have recently been given a solo task. It consists of me searching for competitors and deciding what we can do from a marketing perspective of how to make our products more appealing than the other companies. My ability to perform this task alone motivates others within the department to work just as hard, as in recent weeks we have all started to put in extra effort. Because of this occurring, I have led by example just by others seeing what I am doing. Also, Spectrum is beginning to release new packages for sale as we come up with pricing strategies for each package. When deciding what the price should be, multiple people all have a different number in their mind, including myself. My ability to adapt in a situation where not everyone agrees and come to a conclusion has proven useful. I explained why my idea for a new product's price should be because I had compared it to competitors and came up with a price that was lower than theirs but still allowing us to make a substantial profit. I always have an open mind when discussing new product ideas, pricing, and anything in between. At the same time, I always like to add a twist to the package and include something completely different than any other company. My leadership development within Spectrum has grown tremendously through the month of November due to my motivation of others and ideas I might have. Although I am not a chief, I feel like my opinion is always considered because I have shown leadership qualities and abilities. I plan to continue to grow my leadership abilities in the marketing department as the VP of Products. This new position will allow me to grow as a leader in a business setting, as I work with three other employees to come up with new products and their release dates.
